On October 23, 2024, The Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development PWWSD participated in a key side event at UN Women’s headquarters in New York titled "Women at the Forefront: Navigating a Changing World to Strengthen the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda in Afghanistan and the Arab States Region."

The event brought together women leaders and peacebuilders from the region to discuss the challenges they face in promoting peace and security. Conversations focused on practical strategies for increasing women’s participation in peace processes and addressing the needs of women in conflict zones.

During the discussion on Palestine, PWWSD highlighted that the situation has not yet reached a stage where we can fully engage in the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda. Instead, the immediate focus must remain on guaranteeing protection for Palestinian women and the wider community under prolonged military occupation. PWWSD emphasized the need for stronger international accountability and the protection of fundamental human rights in Palestine, as a foundation for future peace efforts.

PWWSD continues to advocate for the protection and empowerment of women in conflict zones and remains committed to advancing women’s roles in peace and security, regionally and globally.
