About PWWSD

The Palestinian Working Woman Society for Development (PWWSD) is a Palestinian grassroots non-governmental organization working since 1981 with and for Palestinian women marginalized by the Israeli occupation and Palestinian patriarchal society. PWWSD is a civil feminist human rights organization which seeks to achieve gender equality and combating all forms of discrimination and gender-based violence, facilitate women access to justice, and contribute to the development process, through providing psychological, social and legal support to women, empowering them and encouraging their participation in the political, economic and social fields, and in their participation in the national struggle to end the occupation.

 

About the project

The “WEQAYA: Strengthening Accountability to Affected Populations Through a Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Interagency Community Feedback Mechanism in the West Bank and Gaza Strip” project seeks to provide a free, accessible hotline service for Palestinian individuals. This service is designed to offer immediate support, assistance, and answers to inquiries via the Palestinian Working Women’s Society for Development’s toll-free number. The initiative ensures that this essential service is available to all members of the Palestinian community, with 24/7 coverage provided by trained counselors offering consistent, effective support.

To this end, PWWSD is aiming to recruit community mobilizers (2 community mobilizers in the north of the West Bank and 3 community mobilizers in the Gaza Strip) under the “WEQAYA” project to conduct (100) awareness-raising sessions on available CFM channels (open line service) and all services available and promote the service directory developed by the UN, in 10 governorates (Tulkarem, Jenin, Nablus, Tubas, Salfit, Gaza city, North Gaza, the Middle area of Gaza Strip, and Southern-Khan Younes and Rafah-areas of Gaza Strip), with total participants (2000) including with most vulnerable groups of people(women, girls, women and girls with disabilities, household women, women and girls victims and survivors of violence, adolescents, students in universities ..etc.) by coordination with PWWSD partners in the field, youth groups and champions of PWWSD, besides Haya leaders and shadow councils in West Bank and Gaza Strip. The community mobilizer will directly report to the WEQAYA project coordinator.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct awareness-raising sessions with members of the Palestinian community including with most vulnerable groups of people.
  2. Establish and maintain partnerships and/or coordination with key stakeholders.
  3. Ensuring all supporting documents are maintained and an orderly filing system is in place.
  4. Ensure proper, professional, documented, and clear communication with the project team and partners of all aspects of the project activities.
  5. Coordinate with the project coordinator to draft the regular narrative progress reports.
  6. Inform project staff on progress and obstacles in the implementation and provide necessary documentation upon request.
  7. Organize and conduct workshops and meetings with stakeholders, and participate, document, and coordinate results/outcomes of the Awareness Raising Sessions.
  8. Perform tasks that are deemed necessary to achieve the project objectives according to the request of the project coordinator.
     

Required Experience and Educational Background

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in political science, planning, business administration, public administration, gender, and development, or related social sciences.
  • 1-year experience managing development projects and programs (prefer political projects, youth projects)
  • Understanding of Gender equality and Gender mainstreaming concepts.
  • Good knowledge of the Palestinian political context.
  • Excellent Arabic and English language skills (written and spoken).
  • Proven ability to collaborate well and deliver work in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate for and follow up on the implementation of the awareness raising sessions.
  • Ensure to plan and implement all the community-based outreach activities in all targeted project sites.
  • Develop in cooperation with the project coordinator the link with the local communities, governing structures, municipalities, and other community institutions
  • Ensure relevant target groups are identified and informed of the planned events/sessions in advance.
  • Resolve all challenges related to awareness interventions using community-based approaches.
  • Prepare activities reports regularly and share them with the project coordinator for review and input and in assembling the narrative report.
  • Support M&E activities in the field.
  • Perform any other related tasks as requested by the direct supervisor.
  • Able to travel between West Bank cities and Gaza Strip using public transportation.
     

Key Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and presentation in Arabic and English.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office and online applications).
  • Highly committed, able to work under pressure, adapt to new situations, and meet deadlines.
